What you are welcome to do
By accessing this site you may:
- Read, search and reference the content for any purpose, commercial or otherwise.
- Link to any page.
- Quote passages, with attribution, in articles, presentations, reports, academic work and internal documents.
- Circulate individual chapters or extracts within your own organisation for internal learning, discussion or planning.
- Apply the framework inside your own organisation, including to design your experience strategy, operating model and measurement approach.
- Use the framework to advise your own clients, subject to the conditions for practitioners below.

What you may not do
You may not, without written permission:
- Republish, mirror or host substantial portions of this content on any other site, platform or publication.
- Sell, license or charge for access to this content, or include it in any paid product, publication, course, membership or subscription.
- Create derivative frameworks, models, maturity assessments, diagnostics, scorecards, templates, software or tools based on the Experience Ecosystem. Framework, whether for sale, licensing or free distribution.
- Extend, adapt or rename the framework, or present any adaptation of it as your own work.
- Deliver training, workshops, certification or accreditation based on the Experience Ecosystem Framework as a commercial offering.
- Use RE:defining experience, the Experience Ecosystem Framework or XEF in any product name, course name, service name, trademark or domain name.
- Represent yourself as certified, accredited, licensed or endorsed by Amy Pirie or XEF Global, unless you hold a current certification issued through the XEF Academy.
- Use this content to train machine learning or AI models, or for text and data mining, without written permission.
Conditions for consultants and practitioners
If you advise organisations professionally, you may use the Experience Ecosystem Framework as a tool within your consulting work. Specifically, you may:
- Use it to structure your diagnostic work, analysis and recommendations for a client.
- Reference and quote it in client deliverables, with attribution.
- Recommend the book and this site to clients.
You may not:
- Present the framework, or any version of it, as your own methodology or intellectual property.
- Build the framework into a named, packaged or productised offering.
- Deliver training or certification in the framework.
- Create tools, templates or assessments derived from the framework for use beyond the individual client engagement, or for resale.
The distinction is straightforward. Applying the framework in service of a client is welcome. Turning the framework into something you sell is not.

These terms are governed by the law of New Zealand. They may be updated from time to time, and the version published on this page applies.
